Prof. Damodar Acharya served as the Director of IIT, Kharagpur from 2007 to 2012. The Government nominated Prof Acharya as a Director on the central board of the Reserve Bank of India in October 2012. He received his Ph.D. (1975) from IIT Kharagpur, and B.Sc. (Engineering) degree in Mechanical Engineering (1970) from NIT Rourkela.
